Low Profile Drainage Channels FAQ

Posted on 26 July, 2021

Drainage channels are true to their name since their main purpose is to drain rainwater away from paths, driveways and patios. Stagnant pools of water can lead to potential damage to these areas, and can even cause damage around the home if the water reaches the property.  To prevent any water damage from occurring, get clued up with BC Profiles’ handy low profile drainage channels FAQ.

What is an A15 drainage channel?

An A15 drainage channel is a galvanised steel grate that is designed to collect surface water from paved or asphalted areas, helping to move the water away towards an underground drain pipe or escape route.  Whilst most patios, pathways and drives are purposely slightly sloped to encourage water to drain away, this might not always be enough. An A15 drainage channel takes care of this by collecting and dispersing any excess water.

Where should a drainage channel be placed?

A15 drainage channels are stable, anti-slip and durable, making them suitable for pedestrian use as well as pavement, garden and driveway drainage - especially since they are able to hold up to 1.5 tonnes of weight.  If you are dealing with a large paved surface area or an area with heavy clay soil, it is advisable to install one of these channels to aid water drainage.
