Dry Verge FAQs

How do you fix dry verge?

A dry verge is easy to fix thanks to its simple, secure clip fixing system.  No other binding products are needed! See below for a detailed article on how to install a dry verge for yourself.

How does a dry verge system work?

A dry verge product will be used where the tiles of the roof finish at an open edge on the gable of a double pitched roof.

Traditionally, the roof verges at the outer ends of the roof would be fixed with mortar. This is known as a wet verge and prevents any unwanted living creatures or water from entering the roof space. Mortar is however susceptible to thermal movements and expansion, meaning it isn’t very durable and requires high levels of maintenance over time.

Dry verge systems have the same protective qualities as a wet verge system but with more longevity, weather resistance and are visually tidier thanks to their uniformity. Interlocking caps or verges clip over the edge of the roof tiles, protecting the tiles whilst keeping them secure to prevent any unwanted pests or water from gaining access to the roof space.

Dry verge systems can even be purchased with built-in vents which encourage a healthy amount of air circulation, helping to reduce any potential for damp and mildew to occur.

How do you install a dry verge?

Dry verge systems are relatively easy to fit since they can be adapted to fit either the left or right-hand verges of the roof, meaning only one verge is required rather than two.

Consult our Dry Verge Installation for a concise step-by-step guide on how to fit dry verge.
